It’s crazy to believe, but it’s now been 12 years since Vladimir Guerrero recorded his 2,000th career hit. For his career, Guerrero finished with 2,590 hits, with 1,034 of them coming during his tenure with the Angels.
A bonus “on this date” takes us all the way back to 1986. Trailing 6-1 entering the ninth inning, the Angels rallied off for six runs to come from behind and beat the Twins. George Hendrick, Ruppert Jones and Wally Joyner all hit two-run home runs in the top half of the inning. Donnie Moore took the mound in the bottom of the ninth and threw a 1-2-3 inning to secure the come-from-behind win for the Angels.
