Welcome back to the Mike Trout home run daily, where we remember every Trout home run in his career, one game at a time. Today’s random number generator looks back to 2015.
The Angels returned from a road trip, starting a three-game series agains the A’s in Anaheim on June 12, 2015.
Trout walked in the first inning against Jesse Chavez, then singled in the third and sixth, scoring on the latter hit thanks to a three-run shot by Kole Calhoun. Down a run in the eighth inning, now against Evan Scribner, Trout led off the inning by blasting a pitch over the hedges in center field to tie the score. Scroll to 3:51 of this video to see it:
Two batters later, Calhoun homered again, giving the Angels their winning margin, 5-4. There were five home runs hit in the game.
This was Trout’s 18th home run of the season — tied with Nelson Cruz for the American League lead — and 116th of his career. This was a particularly hot stretch for Trout, who hit six home runs in his first 10 games of June. It was his second straight three-hit game, and gave him a six-game hitting streak, during which he was 11-for-25 (.440).
