Today’s Mike Trout home run came from just last year, a June 6, 2019 shot against the A’s in Anaheim. The rubber game of a midweek series for the Angels.

Oakland jumped on Tyler Skaggs early and chased him from the game in the fifth. The A’s built a 6-1 lead, when Trout followed a Tommy La Stella single in the bottom of the inning with a home run against Mike Fiers, down the left field line:

This was Trout’s 16th home run of the season, and his second in as many days against the A’s. It was his 256th career home run.

June is Trout’s least prolific power month, with 41 home run in 184 games. Think about that for a moment; Trout’s worst month for the home run still has him hitting them at a 36-homer pace over 162 games. He also has 41 home runs in 184 April games, though he has 11 more plate appearances in June throughout his career.

But in June 2019, Trout hit nine of them, the best June of his career. He hit .320/.440/.641 with 24 runs scored and 23 RBI.
