Mike Trout: Playing without fans will be a ‘huge adjustment’

“I think that’s going to be tough for a lot of guys because people feed off the electric crowds, people feed off the energy,” Trout told Fox Business.

Today’s Angels links are heavily focused on Mike Trout.

Trout was a guest on Fox Business on Wednesday, talking about the oddities of playing baseball with no fans.

“I think that’s going to be tough for a lot of guys because people feed off the electric crowds, people feed off the energy,” Trout said. “But I think everybody’s just anxious to get back. Obviously it’s got to be with the right amount of testing and there’s so much more stuff that’s involved with it.”

Jay Jaffe at ESPN wrote about the best player for each American League franchise who’s not in the Hall of Fame. Unsurprisingly, his pick for the Angels is Trout.

Says Jaffe: “He’s already fifth all time in JAWS among center fielders at 69.2, 11.2 points above the standard and trailing just Willie Mays, Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker and Mickey Mantle. It will be a while before the Millville Meteor catches up to the Commerce Comet (87.4 JAWS), but he’ll be an automatic selection by the time he hangs up his spikes.”

At MLB.com, Mike Lupica wrote about the player of the 21st century to date. It’s not Trout, who was the best of the last decade, per Lupica: “But he’s not the Player of the Century, as much of a force of nature as he’s been. At least not yet. His teammate Albert Pujols is.”

Trout is also in a commercial for Body Armor sports drink, along with James Harden, Megan Rapinoe, Naomi Osaka, Dustin Johnson, Skylar Diggins-Smith, and Carlos Vela.
