Hello again from the Mike Trout home run daily, where we reminisce about every single home run of Mike Trout’s career, one game at a time. We use a random number generator to select each game — there are 270 games in all, including All-Star Games and the postseason.

Today’s game is September 17, 2013, the middle game of a series against the Athletics in Oakland. It was a series to remember for Trout, who homered in all three games.

In this one, Sonny Gray started for Oakland, and Trout greeted him in the first inning with a two-out, solo home run to center field. Scroll to 5:58 here:

That was Trout’s 25th home run of the season, and the 60th of his career. Against Gray in his career, Trout has four home runs and two doubles in 39 plate appearances, good for a .649 slugging percentage.

Unfortunately for Trout and the Angels, that first-inning homer was their only run, and Oakland prevailed 2-1.

Trout in the three-game series against the A’s was 4-for-13 (.308) with a double, three home runs, six RBI, and four runs scored.
