Today’s Mike Trout home run came back in 2013, the milestone of his first career grand slam.

The Angels hosted the Tigers on April 20, 2013 in the middle game of a weekend series in Anaheim. Garrett Richards and Rick Porcello started on the mound, though only one of them completed the first inning.

Essentially, Trout’s entire game came in that opening frame. He singled and scored, and two outs later he batted again in the inning, this time with Brendan Harris on third base, Luis Jimenez on second base, and Peter Bourjos on first.

Trout’s first career grand slam was his second home run of 2013, and his 37th career home run.

It ended Porcello’s night, with nine hits and nine runs charged against his ledger while recording only two outs. The Angels won, 10-0. Trout in his career against Porcello is 11-for-38 (.289) with three home runs and 10 RBI.

Trout has six grand slams in his career, but this was his first.
