Hello once again from the Mike Trout home run daily, where we look back at every single home run of Mike Trout’s career, one Angels game at a time. We use a random number generator to determine each game, and today brings us to Trout’s rookie season.

On September 9, 2012 the Angels finished off a weekend series with the Tigers in Anaheim, with Zack Greinke facing Anibal Sanchez on the mound.

Trout got things started leading off the first inning, hitting Sanchez’s second pitch of the game over the wall in right center field. Scroll to 3:52 of this video to watch:

Trout in his career is 5-for-15 (.333) with three homers and seven RBI against Sanchez. This was Trout’s 27th home run of the season, and 32nd of his career to that point.

Alberto Callaspo later added a two-run homer, and Greinke made it hold up in a 3-2 Angels win.

A second straight series sweep for the Angels brought them within 2½ games of a wild card berth with 22 games remaining.
