Hello again from the Mike Trout home run daily, where we take a look back at every home run hit by Mike Trout in his career, and use a random number generator to determine each game.

The Angels started a homestand on July 20, 2012, the opener of a weekend series against Derek Holland and the Angels in Anaheim.

Trout has faced Holland more than all but two pitchers (Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma), and has four home runs against him in 57 plate appearances, hitting .333/.404/.708.

In this game, Trout singled and scored in the first inning, then knocked Holland out of the game with a solo home run in the seventh inning, widening the Angels’ lead to 6-1. Scroll to 3:15 of this video to see:

This was Trout’s 15th home run of the season, and his 20th career shot.

Trout was already having an excellent rookie season through June, hitting .336/.391/.526, but he set himself apart with a transcendent July. Before July he hit eight home runs in 56 games, but smashed 10 homers in 25 games to win American League Player of the Month for July.
