Today’s Mike Trout home run takes us back five years, when he kicked off a stellar month in style.
On June 1, 2015 the Angels hosted the Rays in the opener of a three-game series in Anaheim, and Trout struck against Tampa Bay starter Alex Colome in the third inning. Johnny Giovatella led off the frame with a single, and Erick Aybar did the same, bringing up Trout.

Trout’s home run was his 13th of the season, and broke a 1-1 tie. He’s 3-for-12 (.250) lifetime against Colome, with two home runs.
It was the only hit of the game for Trout, but it was enough to lift the Angels to a 7-3 win. Trout that June hit .320/.412/.660 with eight home runs and 16 RBI.
While that 1.072 OPS in June was outstanding, Trout has had an amazing 13 months in his career with a higher OPS. It’s hard to stand out when basically every month is excellent.
