Welcome back to the Mike Trout home run daily, where we relive every single home run of Mike Trout’s career, one game at a time, with the help of a random number generator.
Today’s Trout blast came on July 4, 2014, when he sent Angels fans home happy with the 2nd walk-off home run of his career, about seven weeks after his first one.
The Angels hosted the Astros in this one, a game highlighted by Howie Kendrick’s four hits, and Albert Pujols having both a home run and a stolen base for the first time in two years. The Angels spread their runs throughout, while Houston scored five in the fourth inning.
Kendrick’s RBI double tied the game 6-6 in the seventh, and Trout was 0-for-3 with a walk before coming up in the ninth against left-hander Tony Sipp.
It was the 20th homer of the season for Trout, and his 82nd career blast.
It was his second career walk-off home run, and 50 days after his first, that beat the Rays on May 15.
