Welcome back to the Mike Trout home run daily, where we relive every single home run of Mike Trout’s career, one game at a time. We use a random number generator to determine each game, and today we’ve landed on June 8, 2016.
The Angels were in The Bronx to play the Yankees in the third game of a four-game series, with Jered Weaver facing Nathan Eovaldi on the mound.
Trout singled home Kole Calhoun in the first inning, then doubled and scored in the fifth. The Angels held a slim lead in the middle innings, but the Yankees scored four in the sixth and four more in the seventh to put this one away.
But in the ninth inning, leading off against reliever Nick Goody, Trout went deep, 109.4 mph off the bat:
That cut the deficit to 12-6, but that was the final score of the Yankees’ win.
For Trout, that was his 13th homer of the season, and 152nd of his career. He’s 2-for-3 lifetime against Goody, with a single and a walk in addition to that home run.
