Welcome back to the Mike Trout home run daily, where we relive every single home run of Mike Trout’s career, one Angels game at a time. We determine each day’s home run by random number generator, and today brings us to July 18, 2017, with the Angels starting a midweek home series against the Nationals.

This was Trout’s fourth game back after missing 39 games with a torn ligament in his left thumb. He was 4-for-12 in the first three games back, though he didn’t go deep. Trout rectified that in the first inning, answering Bryce Harper’s home run in the top of the inning in a battle of 2009 draftees, hitting a ball into the rocks in left center field.

This was Trout’s 17th home run of the season, and 185th of his career.

Edwin Jackson has pitched for 14 different major league teams in 17 seasons, but this was his first time facing Trout. They have faced off in one game in each of the last three seasons, with Jackson on three different teams. Trout is 3-for-7 with two home runs and a double against the right-hander.
