Hello again from the Mike Trout home run daily, where we relive every home run of Mike Trout’s career, one game at a time. We use a random number generator to determine the game, and today we land on yet another game against the Mariners.
On May 6, 2015 the Angels were finishing up a home series against Seattle, with C.J. Wilson facing Roenis Elias starting the rubber game of the mid-week series.
The game was scoreless until the Angels went extra-base happy in the third inning. Collin Cowgill tripled and Kole Calhoun doubled for one run, then Trout lined one over the hedges in center field.
It was the seventh home run of the season for Trout, and his 105th career blast. He’s 3-for-14 with two homers and three walks in his career off Elias, hitting .214/.353/.643 with five RBI. But it wasn’t just at the plate where Trout helped the Angels in this one.
With the Angels leading 3-2 in the seventh inning, Trout made a spectacular diving catch in right center field to rob Chris Taylor of extra bases. The Angels won this game, 4-3.
