Taylor Cole provided an update on Thursday, and it looks like it’ll be a while until we see him pitch for the Angels. Here’s what he posted to his Instagram account.
Yesterday I got shoulder surgery. It has been something that has been been bothering me for quite awhile and after this last hiccup I wasn’t able to overcome it. I have a difficult road ahead of me, but I feel in my heart I have a lot more baseball to play. Thank you to Dr. El Attrache and his staff for helping me through this process. Lastly, thank you to the Angels medical staff for going above and beyond for me...You know you are.
Cole was currently in the player pool, but wasn’t on the 40-man roster. He’s spent the last two seasons in the organization. Overall, he’s appeared in 56 games while making eight starts. He’s gone 7-6 with a 4.62 ERA. In 87 2⁄3 innings Cole has struck out 89.
Additionally, his ERA+ is 97 with a 3.31 FIP and a WHIP of 1.30.
