It means absolutely nothing in the record books, but it’s always nice to pick up a victory. The Angels kicked off their spring with a 5-2 win over the Giants on Sunday afternoon.
The scoring began in the second inning when the Halos put two on the board. Taylor Ward brought in Juan Lagares with a sacrifice fly and then Anthony Bemboom drove in Jo Adell with a single.
The Angels added two more runs in the third inning, as the first four hitters reached base for LA. Jared Walsh singled, Adell walked and Lagares singled to load the bases for Luis Rengifo. He walked, making it 3-0 Angels. Ward then grounded into a double play, but brought in another run as the lead extended to four.
The final run from the Halos came in the seventh inning, when Jordyn Adams walked with the bases loaded to make it 5-2 Angels.
On Sunday, both teams agreed to play only seven innings. Throughout the spring, you’ll be seeing games go a different amount of innings, as MLB hopes to limit the amount of players appearing in games.
Jose Quintana made his Angels debut, as he got the start. He threw only one inning, as he got three popouts with a walk and a hit-by-pitch.
