Jo Adell exited Saturday’s game after running into a wall. Luckily, major injury was avoided as it looks like the young outfielder only has a knee contusion.
When speaking with reporters on Sunday morning, Angels manager Joe Maddon said that he’s sore today, but he doesn’t think it will be anything serious.
“Doesn’t think it’s anything awful,” Maddon said. “Light day today, hopefully he’ll be back in there tomorrow.”
So far this spring, Adell is 2-for-11 at the plate. Although he’s struggled to make contact, he has been able to draw six walks, which have led to him scoring five runs. With a crowded outfield, Adell needs as many games as possible to show he’s worthy of a roster spot.
Other Angels notes
- Maddon said that the bullpen race is tight and moves are still being discussed. He said they’re piecing it together, but there is still a lot of competition left.
- Andrew Heaney threw 60 pitches in a “B” game. Maddon said he looked very good and his fastball was hot. Said he was spending a lot of time working on his slider location.
- Shohei Ohtani’s next start will be in one week on March 21.
