Mike Trout homers, but Astros hit 3 home runs to earn split with Angels

Dylan Bundy struck out 10 and Mike Trout homered, but despite that killer combo the Los Angeles Angels fell thanks to three home runs hit by the Astros in a 4-2 loss on Tuesday afternoon at The Big A.

Carlos Correa delivered the winning blow in the ninth inning for Houston, a two-run home run to break a tie off closer Jose Iglesias, who has allowed two home runs in his four innings this season after allowing one in 23 innings last year with Cincinnati.

That helped spoil a stellar start from Bundy, who struck out double digits for the fourth time since joining the Angels. He got 15 swinging strikes and 26 called strikes on the day, including 15 called strikes and six whiffs on the fastball alone.

In all, Bundy allowed just two runs in his six innings, both coming on solo home runs by Kyle Tucker and Aldemys Diaz in the second inning.

Mike Trout homered for the second consecutive day, hitting a two-run blast in the first inning. Trout has reached base 15 times in 27 plate appearances this season, all while slugging .737.

But that was all the offense the Angels could muster against Zack Greinke for seven innings. Ryan Pressly pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, ending the Angels-Astros series in a split.

Rojas debut

José Rojas made his first major league start on Tuesday, getting the call at third base on a rest day for Anthony Rendon. Rojas was 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout.

Rojas’ parents, José Sr. and Maria, were at the game for that first start, and talked with Jose Mota on the Bally Sports West broadcast about the Anaheim native making the Angels, and how they cried at hearing the news.
