For the second consecutive game, Shohei Ohtani delivered a home run seen all over social media. Though this one wasn’t as clutch, it was just as impressive. His MLB leading 13th home run helped the Angels pick up their second straight win as they took down the Indians, 7-4.
With the game tied at one, the Angels scored five runs in the second to put the game out of reach. Back-to-back hits started the inning, with Juan Lagares then doubling in two runs to put the Angels up 3-1. After a walk from Taylor Ward, there were two on for Ohtani.
After quickly falling behind in the count, Ohtani swung at would have easily been ball two and crushed it into the stands. Seriously, is there anything this man can’t do? It was his 13th homer of the season, which now leads the majors.
On the pitching side of things, Patrick Sandoval got the start for the Halos. It was his first start of 2021 after beginning the year in the bullpen. He gave the club four innings and allowed two runs. After Sandoval, Tony Watson came in and threw a scoreless inning, striking out the side.
Five different pitchers were used over the final four innings for the Angels. Mike Mayers threw 1 1⁄3 innings and struck out three, with Raisel Iglesias coming in for the ninth to strike out the side.
With the win, the Angels are no longer in last place in the division and are six games back of first place. They still got a mountain to climb, but they’re riding a two game winning streak and have momentum, which is all you can ask for.
