The Angels got back one of their best hitters yesterday as they activated infielder Jose Iglesias off the injured list. In the move, the club optioned Jose Rojas to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Iglesias was placed on the IL on May 28 with a left hamstring strain. Luckily for him and the Angels, it was a pretty quick recovery. As mentioned above, he’s been one of the best hitters for the team this season.
At the time of his injury, he was hitting .283/.317/.396 with four home runs and 16 RBI with 45 hits.
Rojas goes down to AAA, where hopefully he can turn things around at the plate. His 12 doubles actually lead the Angels, but he’s hitting only .190/.246/.364. He’s provided them solid depth as he’s played games at second base, third base, first base and in the outfield.
Rojas has showed potential at the plate for the Angels, but his inconsistency has cost him playing time at the big-league level.
