MLB is reporting that the Baltimore Orioles have offered Paul Byrd a 2 year contract with an option for a third year. The deal is valued at $10 - 13 Million total.
$6 million a year for a #4 - #5 starter is, uh..., umm..., maybe it is the going rate. Maybe, though, this is money to be spent elsewhere and they roll the dice on a pitching prospect. If they sign Byrd, those pitching prospects can be broken in at Triple A and somewhere in the Bullpen.
