According to www.kfan.com out of the Twin Cities, the Minnesota Twins trade Romero to Angels.

Minnesota announced on Friday it has acquired infielder Alexi Casilla from Los Angeles in exchange for lefty pitcher J.C. Romero. The weird thing is when you click on the link it doesn't bring you anywhere? I can't find this on espn or any other source either. They're talking about it on KFAN (radio station out of Minneapolis) like it's a done deal though, so it must be.

What's the word on Alexi Casilla? I've never heard of him? This has to be a steal.

I looked up some info on him, and this is from MLB

Alexi Casilla, 2B/SS: Just what the Angels need -- another middle infield prospect. Casilla turned 21 in July and showed some good signs as Cedar Rapids' leadoff hitter. A 2003 signee from the Dominican, he made his debut a year ago and hit .269 with 26 steals, mostly in the AZL. This year, he hit .311 with 49 steals and a .378 OBP, spending most of the year in the full-season Midwest League, though he also saw seven games of action in Arkansas, and 13 all the way up with Triple-A Salt Lake.

Sounds good

but not great. If he were our only middle infield prospect I sez guard him with our life, but he is behind the following:

Cabrera
Kennedy
Aybar
Callaspo
Kendrick
Wood

So at some point, we have to create value from what we have.

Angel SS Prospects

And just behind Casilla is Hainley Statia, who played SS at Orem and was ranked by BA the third-best prospect in the Pioneer League in 2005. Clearly, we're extremely deep at the position.

I wonder..

if there's any thought of trading one of these stud IF prospects for a stud CF prospect or even better major leaguer, or is the thought that you can change these IFs into OFs?
