Angels Send Prospects To Arizona For Joe Thatcher, Tony Campana

The bullpen gets a much-needed boost along with a minor outfield piece.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Jerry Dipoto made it clear that trading for Jason Grilli was not the end of bullpen's construction. This morning, he made a move to bring over lefty Joe Thatcher from.... the Diamondbacks! Along for the ride came outfielder Tony Campana. The prospects heading into Arizona's system are outfielder Zach Borenstein and pitcher Joey Krehbiel.

W-L ERA G IP K BB
Joe Thatcher 1-0 2.63 37 24.0 25 3

H AB AVG OBP K BB
Tony Campana 9 60 .150 .164 10 0

The trade was first reported here this morning in a FANSHOT by tanana40. More about the trade at MLB-DAILY-DISH.

This trade probably spells a quick end to the Rich Hill experiment. If Hill is cut he will eave the Angels with an ERA of infinity, having allowed four runs without retiring a batter. as an Angel - this would make him the first Halo hurler to accomplish this feat in a string of over 400 men who have pitched for the franchise.

The question now looming is simple: Is Jerry Dipoto finished?
