WeekEnd HaloLinks: Meyer strong, Alvarez wrong.

Alex Meyer looked strong. Jose Alvarez got it all wrong. And a 2-1 win turned into a 4-2 loss. Meanwhile, Pujols just kept cruising along a #599 as Kole Calhoun stole two home runs ahead of him in the batting order.

Alex Meyer took the mound against his old team and mowed them down, almost to a man. A pair of home runs by Kole Calhoun was all the offense Meyer needed as the stadium faithful stood by in hope of seeing #600 out of Albert Pujols. They had to settle with watching the Twins turn a triple play against their offense, and then Jose Alvarez blow a lead and toss a W into the dumpster. A 1-1 tie turned into a 2-1 Win, and then melted into a 4-2 loss, all pretty quickly.

Tomorrow we see turnabout. Fair play. Ervin Santana takes the mound against the Halos. And Ervin is pretty hot this season. CYA hot. The lowest ERA in the league, AND the lowest WHIP along with the highest ERA+, the most complete games and the most shutouts. El Meneo was once the odd man out on a starting roster that appeared to be locking in for a solid run as one of the top rotations in baseball. So he was traded away for WITH some cash...and this guy. Sigh. Baseball things happen.

A Little Bit of Angels News

Cameron Maybin to the DL. Surprised, anyone?..........

The 2017 MLB Draft is almost upon us. June 12th. And the Angels have named their honorary representative: Jose Molina. On the upside, I would trust a Molina to actually know a catcher when they see one............

Pujols needs to get #600 soon. Otherwise Trout is not going to get any rest..............

That surgery that Trout had turns out to be an inexact science. There is not sufficient experience to know what the degree of risk is for the procedure itself to cause larger complications later. If I am reading this correctly, it's not a totally unique procedure to add a tough suture to the ligament, but it is rather new and it promise to speed up Trout's recovery. The unknown part is that there is some risk of that suture sawing a hole in his bone and creating a more serious issue down the road............But if your REALLY want to get deep into the medicine of the procedure, ESPN breaks it down like a NOVA special............

Huston Street sees that Angel Stadium is not at Standing Room Only to be on hand for Pujols' #600, and realizes that Angels fans don't care. We cannot ALL be Commander Josh. But Street figures out the reason. He blames young people............

One guy realizes that even with 6 weeks off, Trout is playing at such a level that he will STILL finish #1 in WAR in the AL............And he hasn't played for days, and he is STILL the best player of 2017.............

Angel Stadium, the most consistent ballpark factor in America. And consistently tough............

New blog post by Victor Rojas...........

Everywhere In Baseball

The Mets had a pretty harsh day. They awoke with this photo all over the Internet.....Then they fired the guy who  works the costume......Later word gets out that the guy might have been a target of verbal abuse all game that even the stadium security could not shut down, culminating with an attack on his mother at a time when the person might actually have some form of personal issue actually involving his mother......And then baseball resumed in a game in Milwaukee, and they get hosed by a ball boy...........

I think that, given the choice, I would rather have a superstar not producing because he is on the DL, than I would having a superstar not producing because he is sucking............

Randal Grichuk might not be turning into a Jim Edmonds after all...........

Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch!  Here I was walking down the list of a re-write of the 2007 MLB draft, updating which players should have been slotted through the Top 10 versus who actually were ranked highly back then. And then as I scrolled down, I hit #5. Brandon Wood. #6 and #7 don't help much, either...........

This is what we are dealing with. As we struggling to even field a team, the Astros are to the rest of MLB teams what Mike Trout has been to the rest of MLB players............

Hey, Kris Bryant? Really? Maybe this is where I finally get my power bat at 3B? A man can dream, can't he??...............

The Duffle Bag

The Marlins are having issues conning people into showing up..........Ernesto Frieri is still playing baseball? I didn't expect that. If I were him, I wouldn't opt out of a paycheck, either...........The Angels were not the only AL West team to have a tough day yesterday..........Baseball may be dying, but it trumps college football when given the chance..........Here's a fun list of 15 things that have never happened in a baseball game. No worries, though. Trout is on it...........

Jordan Serena Destiny Watch

Still no sighting of Jordan Serena in the lineup. But the 66'ers still managed to defeat the Modesto Nuts 2-1.

This is amazing to write, but I met Buck Rodgers in person. Back when he was a player, and I was only 9 years old.
