The Angels and GM Billy Eppler sure do like waiting til the last minute. OK, so maybe not the last minute, but they were still just an hour or two away from the time when all of their prospective trade chips turned into pumpkins, and they’d yet to make any moves despite all the rumors of talks with other GMs and calls taken. They must have been waiting for some other hot stove-related shoes to drop before they got to the business of some hot stove action of their own, because they’ve now pulled the trigger.

It was just announced that the Halos have acquired Luis Madero from the Arizona Diamondbacks, in exchange for reliever David Hernandez:

Here’s Hernandez’s own take on the trade which puts him back with his former team:

Hernadez was one of the recent pickups from earlier in the year that ended up surprising fans and turning heads around MLB. He was signed through the end of this season, set to make about $575K, which is a bargain for a nice bullpen piece who was sporting a FIP of 1.86 and bolstered a shockingly solid Halos bullpen.
