Angels in the Arizona Fall League

Arizona Fall League rosters were announced today

When the regular season wraps up, baseball isn’t over. First you have the playoffs, then you have the Arizona Fall League, and finally the winter leagues. Baseball keeps going all year round if you know where to look. In this case - it’s Arizona. The league opens on October 10th and runs through November 18th. The Angels have 6 prospects who will be playing on the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Nathan Bates, RHP, 23

Drafted 15th round 2015
Bates spent most of the 2017 season playing for the 66ers where he put together a rough season with a 6.66 ERA and 1.75 WHIP.

Samil De Los Santos, RHP, 23

Signed out of Dominican Republic in 2011 (Astros)
De Los Santos also spent most of his season playing in high A. His season was a bit better than Bates and he put together a 4.26 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 44 innings.

Adam Hofacket, RHP, 23

Drafted 10th round 2015
Hofacket played across 3 levels in 2017, included 14 innings for Salt Lake. He has a 3.65 ERA in the minors this year with a 1.20 WHIP in 66.2 innings.

Taylor Ward, C, 23 - #11 Angels prospect on MLB

Drafted 1st round 2015
Ward started the year in high A and moved up to Mobile where he has played 27 games witha .312 AVG, .441 OBP and 3 home runs. He’s caught about 30% of base stealers in 2017.

Matt Thaiss, 1B, 22 - #3 Angels prospect on MLB

Drafted 1st round 2016
Thaiss was drafted as a catcher but the Angels never planned on playing him there. He was drafted for his bat and in 126 games across two levels this year he has a .281 AVG, .375 OBP and 9 home runs with 73 RBIs. Thaiss has also walked 68 times to 100 Ks.

Troy Montgomery, OF #21 Angels prospect on MLB

Drafted 8th round 2016
Montgomery played across 3 levels in 2017, starting out with 15 games in Burlington. On the season he has a .271 AVG with a .358 OBP. He also has 8 home runs and 8 triples along with 15 stolen bases.
