Some of them have big league playing time. Some are waiting for their big break. The MLB season may be over for all except 2 teams, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some baseball being played.
Arizona Fall League (AFL)
Roberto Baldoquin (IF) - It seemed like Baldoquin may have been figuring it out at bit during the regular season but so far in the AFL he’s hitting 0.095 with a .174 OBP in 21 ABs.
Jahmai Jones (2B) - Jones is looking good in the fall league and his hitting .300 with a .432 OBP. His patience at the plate is showing. He’s struck out 9 times to 6 walks over his 8 games and has also stolen 2 bases in 4 attempts.
David MacKinnon (1B) - He had a solid minor league season with a combined .417 OBP across A and high A ball. He has just a single hit in his 17 fall at bats so far and has struck out 8 times (nearly a 50% rate) with 7 walks.
Jesus Castillo (RHP) - Castillo has had a pair of 3 innings starts, the first of which went pretty well and the later saw him getting knocked around pretty bad. Overall he has given up 10 hits and 5 runs in 6 innings of work. 7 of those hits and all of the runs came in his last start.
Ryan Clark (RHP) - He was lights out in AA but lit up like a Christmas tree in AAA this year. So far int he AFL he has allowed just 1 hit and 3 walks over 4 innings. He has walked 1 and struck out one in each of his 3 appearances.
Brett Hanewich (RHP) - Hanewich has looked good this fall so far with zero runs allowed over his 6 innings. He has also struck out 10 and allowed 4 hits and 3 walks. Despite his zero runs allowed, he has a record of 2-2 which shows you how messed up win and loss records can be.
Daniel Procopio (RHP) - He struggled for Mobile this year but in the AFL so far has allowed only 2 runs over 7 innings and 4 appearances.
Liga de Beisbol Dominicano (LIDOM)
Michael Hermosillo (OF) - We certainly saw a bit of Hermosillo on the big league team this year where he hit only .211. Through 10 ABs he has 2 hits and 3 Ks.
Mayky Perez (RHP) - Perez was really good for Burlington in season but hasn’t thrown much in this league. He made one appearance and gave up 2 hits and walk - not even recording a single out before being pulled.
Ivan Pineryro (RHP) - Just 1.1 innings so far and he allowed 1 unearned run, 2 hits, and struck out 1.
Jeremy Rhoades (RHP) - Rhoades had a sharp regular season and is putting up more of the same numbers here. He has made 4 appearances and allowed zero runs or walks over 4.1 innings.
Liga Venezuela Beisbol Profesional (LVBP)
Zach Houchins (3B) - Houchins spent the regular season at the AA and AAA levels putting up some pretty decent numbers. He has a .235 AVG in 34 ABs this winter and has struck out 12 times with 3 walks.
Jose Rojas (3B) - Rojas is tearing up the LVBP with a .423 AVG and .500 OBP through 8 games. He also has 3 doubles, 2 triples, and a home runs. He’s walked (4) more times than he has struck out (2). He leads the LVBP in OPS.
Greyfer Eregua (RHP) - Released by the Cubs early last year, he’s found a home in the Angels system. He only threw 6 innings in the regular season, presumably due to injury. Though 4 games and 3.1 innings in the LVBP he hasn’t given up a run or walk and has struck out 3 and allowed 2 hits.
Osmer Morales (RHP) - Morales had a rough season for Salt Lake and is trying to put that behind him. Unfortunately, he’s having a rough fall so far with 4 runs allowed in 7 innings. In those 2 starts, he’s given up 7 hits and 3 walks.
Akeel Morris (RHP) - Morris has allowed only 1 ER, and 3 hits over his 4.1 innings. He hasn’t notched a single strikeout in his 3 appearances so far.
Eduardo Paredes (RHP) - Paredes wasn’t fooling anyone in the regular season and isn’t fooling anyone now. He has allowed 5 hits and a walk over 2.1 innings in 3 games.
Dylan Unsworth (RHP) - In two starts he’s given up 3 runs and 10 hits over 11 innings. He’s also struck out 9 and walked none.
Liga Mexicana del Pacifico (LMP)
Sherman Johnson (2B) - Through 8 games, Johnson has a .412 AVG and .500 OBP. He also has 4 doubles and 3 stolen bases.
Eric Young Jr. (OF) - EYJ is 12 for 40 with a .391 OBP and 3 stolen bases in 4 attempts. Pretty sure he’s one of the oldest guys in the LMP.
