Back on November 29th, the web-a-sphere was set on fire with the blockbuster trade that sent Tommy La Stella from the Cubs to save the Angels 2019 campaign. Part of that deal was “future considerations” to be sent back to the Cubs. Part of me was hoping that meant Billy Eppler just had to be nice to Theo Epstein at the Winter Meetings and maybe save him a spot in the Starbucks line at Mandalay Bay. But no, apparently that meant the Angels are sending Conor Lillis-White to the Cubs.
Who is Conor Lillis-White you might ask (and probably did)? He has never been much of a top prospect, but Lillis-White has performed at pretty much every level. Over 4 minor league seasons he amassed 252 Ks in 190.2 innings. Lillis-White also has a carer 3.35 ERA along with a 1.233 WHIP and 11.9 K/9 rate. He threw 37.1 innings for Salt Lake last year with a respectable 3.86 ERA and 12.5 K/9.
But wait, there’s more! Look how good the dude was against lefties:
Conor Lillis-White has fringe-average stuff but has been able to control lefties, career vs. LHH: .188 BAA, .535 OPSa, 30.4 K% (2018: .209 BAA, .611 OPSa, 24.7 K%) #Angels https://t.co/tf1N2EWw2R

Those are some nice numbers and with the loss of Jose Alvarez, the Angels are burning through lefty arms like Mike Scioscia at the pasta bar.
Let’s recap the off season so far:
Nah, never mind. It’s been one big pile of poo, including the signing of Justin “CJ” Bour(ing). The off-season has a long way to go, however, so stick around and enjoy the ride - just don’t expect it to be too full of thrills.
