Angels off-season updates - where are they now?

Since rosters expanded back in September, the Angels have released, lost, or non-tendered A LOT of players. The full list is below, along with updates on where they have landed. As you can see, most of the guys below are still free agents. If a player has NOT found a new home, they are in bold. I’ll do my best to keep this updated over the next month or two.

Sep 4 Nolan Fontana Released. On December 21st, Fontana signed a minor league contract with the Nashville Sounds (Texas Rangers AAA)

Oct 11 Dayan Diaz Refused Minor League Assignment - Free Agent. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Oct 29 Jim Johnson Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Oct 29 Eric Young Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Oct 29 Chris Young Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Oct 29 Blake Wood Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Oct 29 Junichi Tazawa Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Oct 29 Garrett Richards Declared Free Agency. On November 30th, Richards signed a 2 year, 15 million dollar deal with the Padres.

Nov 2 Joseph Hudson Declared Free Agency. On November 19th, the Cardinals signed Hudson to a minor league contract.

Nov 2 Eduardo Paredes Declared Free Agency. Signed a minor league contract with the Tigers on December 19th.

Nov 2 Deck McGuire Declared Free Agency. On November 29th it was announced he’d be playing for the Samsung Lions in Korea.

Nov 2 Osmer Morales Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Nov 2 Jefry Marte Declared Free Agency. On December 21st, it was announced that Marte would be signing with Japan’s Hanshin Tigers.

Nov 2 Sherman Johnson Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Nov 2 Dustin Ackley Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Nov 2 John Lamb Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Nov 2 Akeel Morris Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Nov 4 Odrisamer Despaigne On January 7th, our own Rahul Setty broke the news that he signed a minor league deal with the Reds.

Nov 3 Francisco Arcia Declared Free Agency. Still a free agent as of 12/21.

Nov 20 Parker Bridwell Designated for Assignment. Bridwell was claimed off waivers by the Yankees on November 26th and the Angels got him back after claiming him off waivers on December 21st.

Nov 20 Jose Miguel Fernandez Designated for Assignment. Signed with the Doosan Bears of KBO on December 26th.

Nov 26 Alex Meyer Released. Returned to the Angels on December 31st in a Minor League deal.

Nov 29 Jabari Blash Released. Blash will be competing against Jefry Marte after signing a contract with the Rakuten Golden Eagles in NPB on December 5th.

Nov 30 Matt Shoemaker Not Offered Contract and Became Free Agent (non-tendered). Signed with Blue Jays for one year worth up to $3.5MM on December 28th.

Nov 30 Blake Parker Not Offered Contract and Became Free Agent (non-tendered). Signed with the Twins on January 7th for a 1 year $3.3MM deal.
