Time flies when you’re having fun, and by having fun, I of course mean when your favorite sports team on the planet is spending their winter vacay signing and trading for some insane talent. The off-season flew by faster than a baseball thrown by Andrelton Simmons to get a guy out at first base, but we’re all people who view Angels baseball as close to a religion or spiritual foundation as possible, so the brisk passage of time is totally welcome.
Now, with the off-season wrapping up, teams are about to begin their spring training games, getting warmed up and primed for that long, hard and life-affirming 162 game season. The Angels begin playing tomorrow, squaring off against the Athletics at Hohokam Stadium; the party starts at 12:05PM pst, and then they’ll make their first Cactus League appearance at their own stomping grounds, Tempe Diablo Stadium, the next day. As mentioned elsewhere on this site, that game is going to be one to make time in your busy day to sit down and watch.
There are going to be 33 spring training games in all. 31 of those will be televised on Fox Sports West, so check your local listings. The other two are just going to be split squad games, so you’re probably out of luck on those, unless you can make your way to Arizona. Not only will those 31 games be televised on FSW (again, check your local listings, of course), but you’ll be able to hear them on 830 AM radio, as well, and also you can check out MLB.TV and their schedule of Angels spring training programming, if you find yourself out of market.
Just in case you’re a completist, here’s the entire spring training schedule, all times listed in PST, naturally:

All of those games will feature the venerable Terry Smith and Jose Mota on announcing duties, that is until the team heads back home for the legendary Freeway Series, at which time we’ll get our first taste of Angels broadcast stalwarts Victor Rojas and Mark Gubicza.
If you’re planning on going to Tempe, then you might have to be prepared to pay more for tickets than usual. Call it the Ohtani Effect, I guess. But you’ll most likely be getting your money’s worth, don’t worry. Vividseats.com is a good place to start, though, if you need to purchase some sweet seats, just sayin’.
Also, if you’re looking for the full, real deal Cactus League experience, then I implore you to check out Jeff Joiner’s super handy spring training guides, which can be found here. He wrote these up last year, with tons of great info and helpful tips/tricks for each team and their respective Cactus League stadiums. A couple of them need some tweaking, due to some changes at the ballparks, but they’re still on the money for the most part.
Have fun, party people. Opening Day is going to be here before we know it, and baseball will be back, and all shall be right with the world.
