September 13th, Game #148 Preview: Rays @ Angels

lumbering zombies host Tampa Bay Rays

MLB: Cleveland Indians at Los Angeles Angels Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

Rays (87-61) @ Angels (67-80)

About this past week.. Justin Upton is currently out. Mike Trout has been out. Shohei Ohtani is now out. If we are to believe anything anything the Angels have to say - it’s that Mike Trout should be back on the field in this series opener. Can he hang on to the HR lead in the AL over these last few weeks? Can he take the MLB overall lead?

These series kicks off on Friday the 13th. What could go wrong? The Angels have FANTASTIC luck so...

GAME 1

(R) Charlie Morton (3.11 ERA) v. (L) Andrew Heaney (4.30 ERA)

Friday, September 13th @ 7:07 PM PST

Summary:

Andrew Heaney has had pretty mixed results over his last 2 starts with 8 total runs over 11 innings along with 12 Ks. The potential seems to be there, but the consistency is not. Heaney allowed only 4 ER over 12 innings against the Rays in 2018.

Of course Charlie Morton has put together quite a successful season for the Rays, and is easily one of their best pitchers. Over his last 2 starts against the Angels in 2019 and 2019, Morton has given up 8 ER over 10 innings. He may be having a good season but has a career 4.86 ERA versus the Angels.
