Suarez’s strong start unravelled by the Angels bullpen

Calhoun enters the record books

Angels 3 Astros 6

Jose Suarez threw one of his better games of the season to wrap up his 2019 campaign. Unfortunately, this game came unravelled as soon as the bullpen took over (namely Luke Bard). Suarez led the Angels to a 3-2 score into the 6th inning. He struck out 6 and allowed only 3 hits.

Suarez, however, was overshadowed by Justin Verlander who was on the bump for the Astros. Verlander notched his 3,000th career strikeout and his first 300 K season of his career - both of those feats were against Kole Calhoun.

The offense mostly fizzled again, but thanks to a Brian Goodwin homer in the 1st and an Andrelton Simmons 2-run blast in the 4th, the Angels at least made it interesting. But in total, the Halos struck out 13 times and managed only 5 hits. They left 4 on base and were 0 for 1 with RISP.
