The Angels activated one of their better relievers off the injured list on Thursday, as Chris Rodriguez was reinstated. In the move, the Angels optioned catcher Anthony Bemboom to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Rodriguez has been out since May 5 with right shoulder inflammation. Prior to his injury, he had a 2.30 ERA in eight games out of the bullpen for the Angels. Although the bullpen has been one of the worst in baseball through the first two months of the season, Rodriguez was one of the lone bright spots.
Bemboom was recently recalled by the Angels, but he’ll head back to Salt Lake. He’s hitting .222 in eight games with the Angels this season. In AAA he’s hitting .321.
