Hot bats help Angels pick up win

The offense scored eight runs

MLB: Kansas City Royals at Los Angeles Angels Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Four runs in the first inning set the tone for the Angels as they took down the Royals, 8-3.

Shohei Ohtani drew a walk in the first, one of three he’d have on the night. After he advanced to second on a wild pitch, Anthony Rendon drove him in for the first run of the game. Jared Walsh then walked, putting two runners on base. Max Stassi recorded a hit, bringing in a run to make it 2-0 Halos.

Jose Iglesias brought in another run with a groundout and Juan Lagares singled in a run to give the Angels an early 4-0 lead. They would lead the rest of the way.

After a very rough two months to begin the season, Dylan Bundy finally picked up his first win of the season for the Angels. He went 5 23 innings and allowed only two runs, tying his season-low. Bundy only had two strikeouts, tying his season-low as well. However, he was still able to limit any damage from the Royals, and gave the Angels a chance to win the game.

At this point in the season, this certainly is not how you would have drawn up Bundy’s season. Maybe this can be a confidence booster for him that can help turn his 2021 season around.
