The Angels made a number of roster moves ahead of their game in Minnesota on Thursday, with the most notable being the club getting outfielder Justin Upton back from the injured list.

Upton missed nearly a month after being placed on the IL with a lower back strain. Prior to his injury, Upton was hitting .247 with an OPS of .816 to go along with 14 home runs and 32 runs driven in. With another outfielder being on the club, the Angels sent Taylor Ward to Triple-A.

The outfield looks a little different than when Upton last played, as Adam Eaton and Brandon Marsh are some other outfielders.

In another move, pitchers Reid Detmers and Chris Rodriguez were promoted to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Other news and notes

  • Mike Trout was seen running the bases in Minnesota. Still no date yet as to when he can go on a rehab assignment.
  • The Angels don’t have a starter listed yet for Sunday, but they’ll likely be bringing someone up from the minors to make it. Shohei Ohtani’s next start is likely to come on Monday when the Angels host the Rockies.
