MLB Trade Rumors: Angels may be targeting Yoenis Cespedes

I'm not sure how much insight or validity there is to Mr. Feinsand's claims here. One could almost have no inside knowledge of the Mets and/or Angels' organizations and still come away with the "Angels are going to sign (insert any free agenty OF)" theory. Still, this isn't the first we've heard of the Angels taking a chance on Yoenis Cespedes. His name came up often during the recent trade deadline, although the team obviously didn't have enough prospect ammo to fire off that deal. But they DO have some money.

The rub against Cespedes is that he's not the lefty hitter that the Angels would want to add into their lineup. Also, he's 30 years old, 4 years older than coveted FA outfielder Jason Heyward, albeit with tad better regular season hitting numbers. MLBTradeRumors.com had speculated that when the dust settles after Winter Meetings, the Angels will have signed Yoenis Cespedes to the tune of $140 million/6 years.

Perhaps it's Cespedes' past injuries, his age, or his lackluster performance in the recent playoffs, but I'd have to go ahead and pass on him, for that amount of money, if there are still guys named Justin Upton and Alex Gordon out there, and also assuming that they don't want to break the bank for Jason Heyward. If those options are off the free agent market, and a trade isn't out there that can save the day, THEN i'll gladly take a Cespedes. Otherwise, show me what else ya got, Billy Eppler.
