Angels photo day 2018: Here are all of my faves, plus a ton of Shohei Ohtani pics, because why not?

I love photo day, especially when there are some funny/cool/goofy photos of our beloved Halos. Yesterday’s shoot didn’t disappoint. Also: BONUS Ohtani pics!

Yesterday, the Angels had their annual photo day, were outlets such as USA Today and Getty Images take a ton of nice pics of our favorite players, most of which never see the light of day...unless I can help it! I like finding the funny photos, the badass photos, the weird photos, or just any Angels photo that grabs my attention one way or another.

So, without further ado, here are my favorites of the 2018 crop:

Here’s pitcher Noe Ramirez. This one isn’t really all that noteworthy, but there’s something in his face that I like. There’s a lovable, affable quality too it, with a tinge of sketchy stoner thrown in for good measure. He’s like the dude that your sister is dating, who doesn’t work, just plays video games all day and freeloads off your parents as much as possible. You want them to break up so badly, but at the same time, you can’t help but love the guy.

Pitcher Luke Bard is staring off into space, in a sorta fearful, sorta pensive way. He seems to be thinking “What’d I get myself into with this whole MLB thing?”...that, or “Shit, did I leave the oven on?”

Matt Thaiss gave this picture his best effort. The photographer gave this picture little-to-zero effort. Maybe it’s an artsy fartsy kind of photo, like the photographer wanted to pull back and break down the facade of myth that these pics can create around the ballplayers, ultimately making a statement on the fragility of the hyper-masculine athlete. Or maybe he just took a crappy photo that not only shows some random crap in the frame, but also has some random dude standing to one side, I dunno.

Bullpen catcher Tom Gregorio has a beautiful smile. That is all.

Is it just me, or does Albert Pujols look absolutely crushed, emotionally speaking, here in this photo? I imagine this is the face he made when he saw that pic of Trout and Ohtani driving around in a golf cart, having the time of their lives. Is that why Pujols has shed some weight this off-season? Because he’s got some bromance competition now for Mike Trout, so he’s going all out to look and play his best? Sad Albert Pujols is sad.

Cam Bedrosian looks pretty awkward here, and I find it hilarious for some dumb reason. Reminds me of that awkward kid gif meme:

Nick Tropeano looks pretty lit in this photo, which means it gets included in this article, of course. NiTro doesn’t seem sure what exactly it is he should be doing with his ball and glove right in that moment. Hey, it happens to the best of us.

If Mike Trout were your dad, this is how he’d sit in front of you right after he found a joint in your bedroom. It’s time he had a serious talk with you, except he words it like “We should have a quick rap, son. Talk to your old daddy-o about what’s going on with you and all your homie dogs, I’m a cool dad, don’t worry.” He is only missing a folding chair that’s he’s sitting in backwards.
