The American pastime has lent itself to countless films. But which one is the consensus favorite among the HH faithful? Let’s find out.
For this exercise, I’ve set up a 16 film bracket. To determine the films and seeding, I’ve crowdsourced rankings from Rotten Tomatoes, Ranker, and the ultimate authority on everything, Stirrups. Then I’ve added a dash of my own influence to include a couple of Angels-centric titles and make a bracket that makes sense.
Today, let’s pit two 90s films against each other.
A League of Their Own had huge star power in Madonna, Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, and Rosie O’donnell. Directed by recently passed Penny Marshall, the film tells the story of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League and led to widespread recognition and adoration of the women depicted in the film. A true masterpiece of a film.
Angels in the Outfield, the Disney edition, features our Angels, future star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and the Big A. Danny Glover, Tony Danza, and Christopher Llyod balance out the cast and try to win a pennant so young Gordon-Levitt’s father will come home and they can be a real family; only he discovers who truly loves him along the way.
Which film stays and which goes the way of Cross Colours jeans?
