The pitching staff took a bit of a hit on Thursday afternoon, as RHP Luke Bard will undergo season-ending hip surgery.
Last week, the 30-year-old was placed on the 60-day Injured List, meaning he’d be out through at least June. Now, it looks as if Bard has chosen to undergo surgery on his hip, ending his season.
His recovery time is expected to be between six and eight months, so he should be ready for next season.
Bard has spent the last three seasons with the Angels and had appeared in 46 games, including six last year. During his tenure with LA, he’s posted an ERA of 5.05 with a WHIP of 1.15.
