The Angels pick 10th in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft, which begins Wednesday evening.
This is the sixth time they’ve drafted 10th overall, including in 2018 taking outfielder Jo Adell, the club’s top prospect. Others picked 10th by the Angels were infielders Paul Dade (1970), Dave Chalk (1972), and Mike Miley (1974), and high school pitcher Joe Torres (2000).
Mock drafts this year have mostly linked the Angels with outfielders and college pitchers.
MLB Network and ESPN will televise the first night of the draft Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m. PT, which includes the first round and Competitive Balance Round A. The draft concludes Thursday at 2 p.m. PT with the final four rounds, televised by MLB Network and ESPN2.
The Angels have four picks in the five-round draft, having forfeited their second-round selection by signing free agent Anthony Rendon, who declined a qualifying offer from the Nationals.
