The Angels made a number of roster moves ahead of their game on Saturday evening versus the Mariners. The club recalled infielder Luis Rengifo and left-handed pitcher Ryan Buchter from the alternate training site.
Rengifo was optioned three days ago, so his stint away from the team was brief. On the season, he’s hitting .157/.283/.235/.519. He has only one homer and 12 total bases through 18 games.
Butcher was optioned two weeks ago. He’s appeared in nine games on the year out of the bullpen, going 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA. In only five innings of work, he’s allowed four runs with eight strikeouts and five walks.
With the Angels bringing up two players, there are some that will be going down. The team placed left-handed pitcher Hoby Milner on 10-day Injured List with right back spasm, retro to August 26. In 11 games for the Angels, Milner has posted an ERA of 3.86 with six strikeouts and two walks.
Additionally, the Angels placed infielder Franklin Barreto on the COVID-19 related IL while he completes intake protocols. Barreto was acquired from the Athletics yesterday in a deal that sent Tommy La Stella to Oakland.
